Yixing teapot  (also called zisha teapot, purple clay teapot)  is a  traditional gongfu teapot.  Because of its special clay, it is much slower in conducting heat and has better permissibility.Yixing Teapot Characteristics

Good Yixing teapots concentrate heat from the hot water into brewing/steeping the tea leaves for higher quality and taste.

Due to its permeability, these teapots are more durable and don’t crack even with regular use.  They are easy to maintain – there’s no need to scrub them after use. A quick rinse with boiling water is all it takes and they are ready to use.  At the bottom of the teapot is a chop which indicates the maker and a guarantee that with proper care, it can be expected to last for decades.

Because Yixing teapots are unglazed, they absorb tea oils during the brewing process which accounts for better-tasting tea.  However, you must never use the same teapot for brewing different types of tea such as green tea and black tea since it absorbs odors and flavours over time and will transfer these qualities to any  tea that you brew in that pot later on.  The only trick you need to remember is to purchase one Yixing teapot for each type of tea you intend to brew
